Highguard, a free‑to‑play guns‑and‑sorcery first‑person shooter created by former developers of Apex Legends and Titanfall, has launched on Steam Early Access after several weeks of teasing silence.

Revealed as the final title at the Keighley Awards in December 2025, Highguard blends magic and modern firepower in a PvP raid‑shooter framework. The setting pits caped magic cowboys against one another as factions vie for control of an uncharted continent, combining temple assaults, airship encounters and objective‑driven skirmishes.

Gameplay features highlighted in the announcement and early footage include rideable panthers, castable fireballs, towering frost giants and large‑scale enchanted siege engines mounted on caterpillar tracks. The overall tone mixes fantasy spectacle with high‑tempo competitive shooting.

The Early Access release arrives relatively quickly following the December reveal and the subsequent period of quiet from the development team. As a free‑to‑play title on Steam, Highguard is now available to download and play while the developers iterate and expand content during Early Access.

Further updates and patch notes are expected to follow as the studio refines balance, matchmaking and progression systems during the Early Access period.
