Xbox Game Studios boss Craig Duncan has signalled a more cautious approach to 2026's release calendar after a busy October that saw multiple tentpole titles land in close succession.
In an interview with GamesRadar, reported by Pure Xbox, Duncan conceded that the decision to release Keeper, The Outer Worlds 2 and Ninja Gaiden 4 so close together was "perhaps a bit too hectic", even though the timing had been intended to serve different audiences.
With 2026 shaping up as another major year for Xbox, Duncan said the studio is aiming to "space out" new Xbox games across the year wherever possible. He also referenced Rockstar's GTA 6 when discussing the need to be mindful of other major industry releases while planning launch windows.
The comments underline growing awareness inside Xbox Game Studios of the commercial and marketing risks associated with clustered launches, and the desire to give each franchise room to breathe in a crowded market.
Details of specific 2026 launch dates remain limited, but Duncan's remarks suggest a focus on calendar management to avoid internal competition and maximise visibility for high-profile titles.
