Arc Raiders has removed one of its most notorious environmental puzzles in the Headwinds update, replacing the elaborate 15‑button sequence on the Buried City map with a simpler path to the coveted in‑game guitar.
Introduced in December, the Buried City puzzle required players to track down and activate 15 buttons in a precise order to unlock a secret chamber containing a fully playable guitar. The mechanic proved both time‑consuming and precarious in the multiplayer environment, since distant players could accidentally reset progress by pressing a button out of sequence.
The Headwinds update removes that sequence and places the guitar for sale at Shani’s, a change Rock Paper Shotgun described as akin to a millionaire tourist buying a flight to the summit of Everest. The outlet characterised the move as a dilution of the original design, while noting the puzzle had driven some players to frustration and that others had spent real money on the battle pass to obtain the instrument.
The Headwinds update bundles this change among a wider set of adjustments. Full patch notes and further commentary are available in the Rock Paper Shotgun report: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/arc-raiders-update-rips-out-one-of-the-games-most-maddening-puzzles.
