A rumoured Fallout crossover for Call Of Duty has been confirmed, as Activision teases which characters will be getting skins.
Despite Activision telling fans it would tone down its use of wacky crossover skins for Call Of Duty, it’s clearly not stopped doing them entirely.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 has only been out for a month and, for its first season of post-launch content, it’s already scheduled what is presumably the first of multiple crossovers.
However, Activision is keeping things close to home and is engaging in some smart cross-promotion by bringing in characters from Fallout, specifically those from the Amazon TV show.
This isn’t the first time Call Of Duty and Fallout have crossed over – something obviously born from the fact that both franchises belong to Microsoft – with Modern Warfare 3 adding Fallout themed cosmetics.
For Black Ops 7, though, Activision is adding actual character skins, which had previously been rumoured but only officially confirmed today.
The announcement doesn’t say which characters are coming to the game, but the silhouettes are blatantly teasing the main characters from the show: Lucy, Maximus, and the Ghoul.

With Black Ops 7 failing to sell as well as usual this doesn’t seem a particularly obvious way to curry favour with fans, but at least it’s a crossover where Activision doesn’t have to pay for the licence.
Activision hasn’t specified exactly when these Fallout skins will arrive in the game, but you likely won’t have to wait long, as the second season of the show ends on February 4 and they’ll want it out well before then.
While some fans have been very vocal about their disdain for crossover skins in Call Of Duty, the greatest anger is reserved for those that don’t at all fit the series’ military aesthetic.
The worst examples are celebrity cameos and cartoon characters like Beavis and Butthead, so Fallout is unlikely to be greeted with any particular anger.

Fallout takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland and is tonally very different from Call Of Duty, but it’s at least another video game where you shoot things. So, its inclusion in Call Of Duty isn’t as jarring as seeing Nicki Minaj running around with an assault rifle.
While the Fallout show is very popular, it remains to be seen if its inclusion will do much for Black Ops 7’s player numbers. The game faces some real competition this year, thanks to Battlefield 6 and Arc Raiders, and Activision has already apologised for failing to meet fan expectations.
