The sad state of Xbox today proven by 69% drop in Pornhub usage

Microsoft’s console is no longer just the least popular gaming platform, the Xbox Series X/S has also seen its popularity tank on the world’s biggest porn site.

Five years after launch, the Xbox Series X/S has been a massive failure for Microsoft, with rapidly falling sales that put it well behind the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

The console’s failure is clear in Microsoft’s switch in strategy over recent years, with a pivot towards multiplatform titles and a stronger emphasis on its Xbox Game Pass subscription service. The message is clear in the marketing: anything and everything is now an Xbox.

Unfortunately, this has come with an adverse side effect. If the Xbox Series X/S has become redundant for games, people are using it less for other things as well, including… porn.

As noted in Pornhub’s year in review for 2025, Xbox represented a mere 2% of game console traffic share to the website, with PlayStation 5 taking up the majority at 66%, followed by the PlayStation 4 at 32%.

The most damning statistic is the change in console traffic from the previous year, with Xbox’s share dropping by 69%. Which seems an appropriate number.

The PlayStation 4 also saw a drop, albeit by only 5%. However, Sony’s PlayStation 5 is a rising platform of choice for a ratchet and clank, with an 11% rise over 2024.

While it seems just a joke at first, this is actually a damning reflection of Xbox’s place in the current console market – with the brand clearly dropping off the mindshare cliff.

69% (stop laughing!) is a huge drop and it implies that general usage of the Xbox, for games and other activities, fell drastically over the course of the last 12 months, as more former Xbox exclusives were released on, and announced for, the PlayStation 5.

As for the most-searched games on Pornhub, it’s the usual sordid suspects. Genshin Impact tops the list, followed by Fortnite, Minecraft, Overwatch, and Pokémon. Marvel Rivals is the only new entry in the top 10 at number six, followed by The Sims 4, GTA 5, Resident Evil, and Cyberpunk 2077.

In terms of the most-searched gaming characters, Tifa stans can rest easy with the Final Fantasy 7 favourite topping the list. She’s followed by Lara Croft, Chun Li from Street Fighter, Overwatch’s D.Va, and Ada Wong from Resident Evil.

Incredibly (but not surprisingly), there’s no male characters inside the top 20, with the highest being Nero from Devil May Cry 5 at number 21. There is, however, a slime from Genshin Impact at number 14, but we’ll ask no further questions.
