Sony has announced plans to shut down the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 3 and Vita, a move that marks the end of a significant era in gaming history. The decision is part of the company's effort to focus more resources on delivering the best gaming experiences on newer devices.

The shutdown will be rolled out in phases, with the first wave affecting select markets later this year and continuing into 2027. This means that owners of these platforms will no longer be able to make new digital purchases, although they will still be able to play and download previously purchased content.
