Xbox has issued a reminder to Game Pass subscribers that they will need to purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 if they want to play it on day one. This marks a change from the previous practice of including new Call of Duty releases in the Game Pass subscription service, a perk that was available following Microsoft's takeover of Activision Blizzard.

This shift in policy was announced in April, with the decision to delay the inclusion of new Call of Duty entries into Game Pass until about a year after their initial launch. This means that subscribers will no longer be able to play the latest Call of Duty games as part of their subscription on day one.
