Santa Monica Studio, the renowned developer behind the God of War series, has been planning the introduction of Laufey for nearly a decade. In a recent interview, Deborah Ann Woll, the actor who plays Faye, revealed that she was first introduced to the concept of Laufey back in 2018, when she was pitched the idea for God of War Ragnarok.

At the time, head of creative Cory Barlog showed Woll a poster featuring Faye and a mysterious cube, which has since been revealed to be Phranque. This early concept art demonstrates the studio's long-term commitment to the character and the world of God of War.
