Springfield’s about to get a whole lot sweeter. Epic Games has dropped the second official Fortnite x The Simpsons short, titled “Sugar High” — and it’s pure, chaotic Homer energy from start to finish.
A Sprinkle of Mayhem
In the new crossover short, Homer Simpson gets his hands on a Zero Point shard and, in true Homer fashion, starts “improving” reality. After a quick chat with Professor Frink — who doesn’t stay himself for long — Homer transforms the scientist into a new version of Peely, Fortnite’s iconic banana character. Yes, Frink fans... he’s now banana-shaped.
What follows is a sky-shaking rain of giant donuts over Springfield, a surreal event that players will soon experience themselves in-game when the next update goes live. But as donuts flood the town, Springfield’s citizens quickly turn against their misguided hero.
Zombie Homer Army Incoming?
The short’s second half teases what’s next for Fortnite’s Springfield mini-season. Homer appears to clone himself — and possibly create a full-on zombie Homer army. It’s unclear whether this is a story gag or a gameplay tease, but fans are already speculating about a special limited-time event.
Disney+ Shorts and a Massive Finale
Epic has confirmed there will be two more Simpsons-themed shorts released over the next few weeks, available online and via Disney+. The Springfield mini-season is set to wrap up with a major live event on November 29, which should tie up this sugary crossover in spectacular style.
Return of the Omniverse
Long-time Fortnite lore fans have even more to celebrate. The short drops a major Easter egg referencing the Omniverse — the multiverse of multiverses first mentioned in Fortnite’s comics featuring The Seven. It’s a hint that the iconic group, once voiced by stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Brie Larson, and Joel McHale, could be making their long-awaited comeback.
While The Seven aren’t expected to return before the end of the current Simpsons season, lore master Rezztro was quick to note the Omniverse callback — suggesting big things are on the horizon for Fortnite’s connected universe.
Skins and Surprises
On top of it all, eagle-eyed fans have spotted even more goodies in the teaser, including the confirmation that Moe Szyslak will soon be available as a skin, along with a new donut-headed original character. Epic clearly isn’t holding back with this crossover, and the community response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Fortnite’s The Simpsons “Sugar High” short is live now, with the in-game donut storm event expected to roll out imminently. Springfield may never be the same again.
