Microsoft appears to have made a small but notable revision to the standard Xbox Series X|S controller. Images of the new Forza Horizon 6 Limited Edition pad show the controller without Microsoft's legacy headset port, an omission first highlighted by a Reddit user and picked up by Pure Xbox.

The removed port sat next to the 3.5mm headphone jack on earlier controllers and was required for certain launch-era Xbox One headsets. The Limited Edition unit retains the 3.5mm audio jack, but the smaller legacy connector is absent in the photos.

The change aligns with the broader shift away from older wired headset formats in favour of 3.5mm and wireless solutions. Possible explanations for the revision include simplification of the controller's design, cost and manufacturing considerations, or an acknowledgement that relatively few players continue to use the legacy headsets that relied on the older port.

Microsoft has been linked with other controller initiatives recently, with reports of a new Xbox Elite Controller and a new Xbox Cloud Gaming pad circulating. For now, the omission has been confirmed only on the Forza Horizon 6 Limited Edition variant visible online; it remains unclear whether the revision will be applied to standard retail controllers.
