Arrowhead has outlined plans to expand Helldivers 2's long-running galactic war, moving weekly major orders into longer, "multi-week themed campaigns" and introducing more "branching outcomes" alongside improved rewards. The changes are slated to begin rolling out this summer, the developer revealed.

The galactic war functions as an overarching meta that guides the missions players undertake each week. Currently, weekly major orders steer play toward specific objectives; Arrowhead intends to grow those into extended themed campaigns that span multiple weeks to provide a broader narrative arc and more persistent goals.

In addition to lengthening campaign windows, Arrowhead is targeting better in-game rewards and increased variety in how campaigns conclude. The studio described plans for "branching outcomes", where the results of player activity across missions can affect the war's trajectory and potentially lead to different mission sets or consequences on subsequent campaign stages.

The developer framed the update as part of ongoing live-service support aimed at giving the galactic war greater depth and player impact. Details on exact timing, scope and reward changes are expected to be revealed as the summer rollout approaches. Rock Paper Shotgun covered Arrowhead's reveal in its report on the planned adjustments.
