Despite ongoing reports of turmoil around the James Bond licence at Amazon MGM, IO Interactive's art director Rasmus Poulsen has described working with the studio on 007: First Light as "surprisingly straightforward".
Speaking to Eurogamer, Poulsen characterised the partnership with Amazon MGM as "the easy part" of the game's development, signalling clear lines of communication between the developer and the rights holder. The comments stand in contrast to previous coverage suggesting sluggishness and complications within Amazon's stewardship of the Bond property.
IO Interactive, best known for the Hitman series, is developing 007: First Light as a new title in the Bond franchise. Poulsen's remarks underline that, at least from the developer's perspective, the licence-holder relationship has not been a major impediment to production.
Further details on 007: First Light's scope, release window and gameplay remain limited. The developer's public statements to Eurogamer offer an early indication that, despite headline stories about the franchise's corporate ownership, the creative collaboration for the project has proceeded without major friction.
