A public hearing convened by the European Commission and involving three European Parliament committees — IMCO (Internal Market and Consumer Protection), JURI (Legal Affairs) and PETI (Petitions) — discussed the European Citizens Initiative 'Stop Destroying Videogames'. Stop Killing Games founder Ross Scott and organiser Moritz Katzner appeared before the committees and later hosted a press conference, described by Katzner as a 'fancy Twitch stream'.
Both Scott and Katzner characterised the session as a successful step for the campaign. Scott was quoted as saying 'I'd say mission achieved for this one', signalling the campaign's assessment that its arguments made a favourable impression on the attending lawmakers.
The hearing gave the initiative a formal platform to set out its case directly to representatives from the three committees. Organisers highlighted outreach and clarity of position during exchanges with committee members, and signalled intentions to continue engagement with policymakers and the public.
The committees will take the input from the hearing into account as part of their ongoing proceedings. The full hearing and the campaign's post‑hearing discussion are available to watch in full via Rock Paper Shotgun: report and video.
