Sunset Visitor, the indie studio behind 1000xResist, has unveiled Prove You're Human, a dark sci-fi narrative adventure that uses CAPTCHA mechanics as a primary means of interaction. The reveal trailer and details were published by Game Informer on 9 April 2026.

The game places the player in first person as a human who elects to undergo a Severance-style procedure and send a copy of their consciousness into a digital environment. That digital clone must persuade a sentient artificial intelligence named Mesa that she is not a human, even as Mesa insists otherwise. The project separates the two identities visually by using full-motion video to represent the real-world version of the protagonist, while the digital world is presented through the game's varied visual language.

Interaction within Mesa's world is driven by a CAPTCHA system reminiscent of real-world login tests. Players examine images and select tiles to progress and investigate. In one trailer sequence, selecting tiles to identify parts of a tree results in the tree suddenly catching fire. Other moments are explicitly narrative: an image of a child prompts selections labelled "you, before," while a photograph of a woman's back asks the player to select images of "you, after death." These examples indicate the mechanic will be used to fold personal memory and identity into puzzle design rather than functioning purely as a novelty.

Prove You're Human continues Sunset Visitor's approach of blending disparate visual and narrative elements into a cohesive whole. Whereas 1000xResist was published by Fellow Traveler, Prove You're Human will be published by Black Tabby Games, the studio behind Slay the Princess. Black Tabby is acting as publisher for the first time, providing financial backing alongside narrative and creative support for development.
