Xbox is providing free rechargeable batteries to customers who purchased Xbox Wireless Controllers that arrived without the expected AA batteries in the box.

The company confirmed the gesture applies to controllers bought since December 2025 that did not include AA cells, saying affected customers "may be eligible" to receive a complimentary rechargeable battery as an apology from Team Xbox. The move follows reports of a shipping issue that left some recent controller boxes missing the standard disposable batteries.
