Call of the Elder Gods, the sequel to 2020's Call of the Sea, will launch on 12 May for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass at release, Game Informer reports.

The new trailer confirms the sequel is set 30 years after the events of the original. Norah Everhart, protagonist of Call of the Sea, serves as narrator while two playable characters drive the story: Evangiline Drayton, a university student and engineer, and Harry Everhart, Norah’s husband and an archaeology professor from the prior game. When the pair discover that their supernatural visions are connected, they embark on a puzzle-led investigation into a new cosmic mystery.

Gameplay follows the series' first-person, exploration-led format. Players will search varied locations such as the Australian Desert and the Arctic for clues and solutions, controlling Evangiline and Harry separately in most sequences and swapping between them during others. The design remains heavily inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, with the developers citing particular influence from A Shadow Out of Time.

Call of the Elder Gods continues the franchise’s focus on narrative-driven puzzles rather than combat, retaining the atmospheric tone established by the original. The title’s simultaneous launch on Xbox Game Pass means subscribers will have immediate access at release.
