Ivy Road, the independent studio behind Wanderstop, will close on 31 March 2026 after failing to secure funding for its second project.

According to Push Square, the studio had been shopping a new concept, tentatively titled Engine Angel, to publishers but was unable to convert interest into a publishing deal or investment. Engine Angel is described in pitches as a car-combat-style title.

The developer described the current investment environment as a "tough time for raising game funds" and confirmed that without an agreement in place the studio must cease operations tomorrow.

The closure will bring an end to Ivy Road's operations and leave its team without a studio to work from. The announcement underlines ongoing funding pressures faced by small and mid-sized independent teams seeking to finance follow-up projects or secure publisher partnerships.

Push Square's report notes the situation as part of a wider pattern of challenging conditions for independent developers attempting to scale or sustain operations in the current market.
