Dead By Daylight Devs Announce Serious Sam: Shatterverse

Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, has announced Serious Sam: Shatterverse, a Spider‑Verse‑inspired multiplayer roguelite shooter. The title was unveiled during the Xbox Partner Preview and sees Devolver Digital return as publisher.

Shatterverse brings multiple incarnations of the series' protagonist into a single adventure. The game features five playable Sams, each presented in a distinct visual style. Up to five players can team up online, with each player assuming the role of a different Sam. Classic weapons familiar to franchise fans will reappear alongside what the team describes as a selection of "all‑new toys" from the Shatterverse.

Behaviour Interactive framed the project as a careful blend of legacy and reinvention. Behaviour’s Nic Duchesne said in a press release: "Our main goal was to respect Serious Sam's rich legacy while presenting it in a fresh, contemporary way unlike anything seen before in the series. Working with Devolver has been an incredible, enriching experience for our team. The folks there are real renegades of the video game publishing world: they always put the game first and aren’t afraid to carve their own path."

The Serious Sam series was originally developed by Croatian studio Croteam; Shatterverse marks a handover of development duties to Behaviour Interactive. The change of developer follows Behaviour's success with large‑scale multiplayer and live service operations.

A reveal trailer accompanied the announcement. Coverage and the trailer were published by Game Informer at the time of the Xbox Partner Preview: Game Informer.

Shatterverse is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC and is due to launch later this year. The game was announced on Xbox's showcase stage but is not an exclusive to Microsoft platforms.
