Game Informer has premiered an "overnumbered" version of Rengar's Legend from Riot Games' upcoming set Riftbound Unleashed, highlighting a special-art alternate of the jungling hunter Pridestalker.
Overnumbered cards sit outside a set's normal numbering to add extra rarity and visual flair. The Rengar reveal carries the unusual "227/219" marking in the bottom-left corner and the small gold hexagon in the lower centre that identify it as an overnumbered print. These variants sometimes include alternative art and occasional artist signatures.
The artwork for this special edition comes from Duy Nguyen, who applies a painterly treatment that emphasises Rengar's ferocity. The piece draws attention to bright, penetrating eye colours, dense jungle foliage that fits Unleashed's aesthetic, and facial details that accentuate the predator's menace in combat.
Mechanically, Rengar appears to be an aggressive Legend. The Fury/Body (Red/Orange) colour pairing suggests a forward tempo plan, and the Legend's ability grants "a unit" +1 Might rather than specifying the unit just played, opening up more flexible and occasionally tricky combat lines.
Strategically, the card points toward early pressure: prioritising inexpensive, dependable creatures for quick board presence and selecting battlefields that reward captures and holds will likely mesh well with Rengar's kit. The ability to target any unit for the Might bonus can enable surprise blocks or shifting combat maths to secure advantageous trades.
Preview season for Riftbound Unleashed runs through 26 March, with Chinese-language Pre-Rift events beginning on 3 April and English-language previews starting 1 May. The release schedule is staggered: Chinese-language launch is set for 10 April and English-language release for 8 May.
Further playtesting and previews remain scheduled through the preview window, with collectors and players advised to watch pack openings for overnumbered variants like this Rengar reveal.
