Double Fine, the studio behind Psychonauts and last year’s surreal lighthouse adventure Keeper, has announced a release date for Kiln, its upcoming party game. The studio confirmed the title will arrive on Xbox Game Pass at launch, making it available to subscribers on day one.
Kiln positions itself as a cooperative and competitive party experience built around crafting, chaos and quick-fire objectives. Players will contend with shifting goals and unpredictable environments while working together to shape, bake and deliver items under time pressure. The art direction echoes Double Fine’s trademark quirky aesthetic, pairing playful character designs with handcrafted environments.
The decision to debut Kiln on Xbox Game Pass aligns with Microsoft’s continued strategy of bringing a broad slate of indie and AA titles to the service. Day-one availability on Game Pass means Kiln will be accessible to subscribers on Xbox consoles and Windows PC without an additional purchase on launch day.
Further platform details, pricing for non-Game Pass ownership and any physical editions have not been emphasised in the announcement. The studio has signalled that more information, including full platform lists and post-launch plans, will follow in the run-up to release.
Double Fine’s move to release Kiln on Game Pass continues the studio’s recent run of experimentally minded projects, following positive reception for Keeper and ongoing interest in Psychonauts-related projects.
