Sony will phase out the PlayStation Network and PSN branding by September 2026, according to an internal email seen by Insider Gaming and reported by Push Square.
The internal message describes the move as a 'purely a visual change' and says it will not introduce any 'technical alterations'. Both names will be removed from all Sony assets by September to 'simplify and unify branding'.
The email does not identify a replacement name for the PlayStation Network, and Sony has not issued further comment on the report.
PlayStation Network has served as Sony's umbrella name for online services since 2006, encompassing user accounts, the digital storefront, online play and related entitlements. The internal message frames the change as a streamlining of branding rather than a modification of service functionality.
