Nvidia and Amazon have officially partnered to bring the GeForce NOW cloud gaming service to select Amazon Fire TV devices. This new native app allows users to stream thousands of high-end PC games directly to their televisions, bypassing the need for a dedicated console or expensive gaming PC.

Big-Screen Gaming on a Budget

By leveraging powerful remote servers to render games and stream them over broadband—much like streaming a movie on Netflix—GeForce NOW turns low-cost streaming sticks into capable gaming endpoints.

Players can link their existing PC digital store libraries, including Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Battle.net, to access a catalog of over 4,000 titles. This means graphically demanding hits like Alan Wake 2, Starfield, and Apex Legends can be played instantly in the living room. All that is required is the app, a solid internet connection, and a compatible Bluetooth gamepad, such as an Xbox Wireless Controller.

Supported Devices and Performance

The native GeForce NOW app is currently rolling out to the following streaming sticks:

  • Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2nd Gen) (Retailing for around £49.99)
  • Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen)
  • Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen)

While Nvidia's premium Ultimate membership tier boasts RTX-powered servers capable of massive frame rates and 4K resolutions on compatible hardware, the Fire TV app is currently capped at 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second (fps). It streams with standard-dynamic-range graphics and stereo audio, largely due to the streaming sticks utilizing standard H.264 video encoding.

A Growing Cloud Ecosystem

This launch follows Nvidia's recent expansion of GeForce NOW to Linux desktops earlier this year, signaling a clear push to make the service ubiquitous across all screen sizes. With a free tier available (which limits session lengths and includes ads) alongside premium subscription options, the Fire TV integration offers an incredibly low barrier to entry for AAA gaming.
