Nintendo has confirmed that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are being brought to Switch hardware, but they won't arrive as part of Nintendo Switch Online's library. The pair were revealed during Pokémon Presents, an event marking 30 years since the original Red and Green launched in Japan, and will be offered as standalone purchases instead of NSO additions.

  • Titles announced during the Pokémon Presents anniversary showcase celebrating three decades since Red and Green's debut.
  • FireRed and LeafGreen will be available for Switch consoles but will not be distributed through Nintendo Switch Online's subscription service.
  • Players who want to play the games on Switch will need to buy them separately rather than accessing them via an NSO membership.
  • The move separates these rereleases from the increasingly common practice of adding classic games to subscription libraries.
