XPLog has opened a new poll to mark Pokémon's 30th anniversary on 27 February. The site is running a series of polls covering one generation per day until all nine generations have been featured; each poll will remain open for five days. The nine winners will then compete in a final poll at the end of the month to determine an overall fan favourite.
Generation 4, the Sinnoh cohort, has produced some of the franchise's most enduring characters and innovations. The generation is notable for introducing the physical/special move split and a slate of powerful legendaries and evolutions that reshaped competitive play.
Notable Gen 4 contenders include the starter trio Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup, and fan-favourites such as Lucario, Garchomp, Dialga, Palkia and Giratina. Other popular entries from the generation include Darkrai, Shaymin, Heatran and many evolved forms added to older regional line-ups.
Readers can cast votes via the poll on XPLog's website while each Generation 4 ballot remains open. The resulting winner will join the champions from the other eight generations in the final showdown at the end of February.
Coverage of the ongoing poll series and final results will be published on XPLog as the votes are tallied.
