Developer Shift Up has indicated that ports of action-adventure title Stellar Blade for Xbox Series consoles and Nintendo's Switch 2 are under consideration as part of a bid to "broaden audience reach", Eurogamer reports.
Originally released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive and published on PlayStation by Sony, Stellar Blade has proven a commercial success, selling in excess of three million copies by mid-2025. Shift Up's comments represent a notable shift in approach for a studio whose debut console release had strong ties to PlayStation.
No formal deals, release windows or platform confirmations have been announced. Any move off PlayStation would likely involve discussions with the game's original publishing partner and potentially the end of timed exclusivity arrangements.
From a technical perspective, an Xbox Series port would align with the PC/console architectures used by many multiplatform releases and should be comparatively straightforward. A Switch 2 version would demand significant optimisation to account for the handheld's differing hardware profile and power constraints.
Shift Up's openness to other platforms follows a wider industry trend of Korean developers expanding beyond initial platform partnerships after strong sales. For Stellar Blade, strong commercial performance provides leverage for broader distribution if commercial and contractual terms can be agreed.
Further announcements from Shift Up or Sony are awaited to clarify which platforms, if any, will receive official ports and when they might arrive.
