Santa Monica Studio used PlayStation's State of Play to announce a remake of the original God of War trilogy. The studio confirmed the project is in early development and offered only a brief teaser during the show.

The teaser consisted solely of a fiery logo and no gameplay or platform information. TC Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, introduced the announcement and told viewers the remake is still at an early stage. "But I'm telling you, I'm telling you, next time we come back, we coming with something big, baby," Carson said.

Santa Monica Studio is the developer behind the 2018 God of War and is a PlayStation Studios studio. The original trilogy — God of War (2005), God of War II (2007) and God of War III (2010) — has previously been given HD treatment in remasters, but the studio characterised this effort as a proper remake of those seminal titles.

The announcement provides no release window, platform list or details on the scope of the overhaul. Given the franchise's importance to PlayStation and the scale of the original games, the remake represents the most substantial reworking of the trilogy to date.

Further information is expected only once Santa Monica moves beyond the project's early stages. The initial reveal was reported by Game Informer and can be read in full at the original report: Game Informer.
