Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will make its Xbox debut as part of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on 27 August 2026. The announcement was made during the PlayStation State of Play showcase and marks the first time the PS3-exclusive title will appear on Microsoft's platform.
Master Collection Vol. 2 compiles three entries from the franchise: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, the Game Boy Color instalment Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, and the former PSP exclusive Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Peace Walker has already been released as a standalone title on the Xbox Store, but the inclusion of MGS4 represents the collection's most significant addition for Xbox players.
Metal Gear Solid 4 originally launched for PlayStation 3 in 2008 and has since been closely associated with Sony hardware. Its presence in Vol. 2 removes that exclusivity for the first time and will allow a new audience on Xbox to experience Hideo Kojima's concluding PS3-era entry.
The collection's Xbox release is scheduled for 27 August 2026. Konami's State of Play reveal provided the first official confirmation of the date and the full package contents.
Further details on editions, pricing and platform availability beyond the Xbox announcement are expected to follow from Konami in the lead-up to the August launch. Original coverage: Pure Xbox.
