Wildlight Entertainment has announced a restructure at its Californian studio that leaves a "core group of developers" working on Xbox FPS Highguard following a round of layoffs.

Initial reports from team members who had been let go were followed by a formal post from the Highguard development team on 12 February 2026. The studio said: "Today we made an incredibly difficult decision..." and described itself as "proud of the team" and "grateful for players who gave the game a shot".

The announcement did not provide details on the number of staff affected or a timeline for ongoing development. The message confirms a reduced team will continue work on Highguard, but offers no further clarity on future updates or the project's long-term roadmap.

Highguard, an Xbox-focused first-person shooter from Wildlight, now continues under the stewardship of the smaller internal team amid the wider cutbacks.
