Blizzard revealed the Warlock as the franchise’s newest playable archetype during its 30th Anniversary Spotlight, and Diablo II: Resurrected players can jump in immediately. The Reign of the Warlock expansion arrives today for Resurrected, introducing a class built around summoning, controlling, and consuming infernal allies.

  • Immediate release: The Warlock is available now in Diablo II: Resurrected as part of the Reign of the Warlock DLC.
  • Summon roster: The class brings three named demonic summons—Tainted, Defiler, and Goatman—each offering distinct combat roles.
  • Control and consume: Warlocks can bind to most demons to gain their strengths, and they can also devour bound creatures to gain temporary, bite-sized buffs.
  • Across the trilogy: Blizzard is adding versions of the Warlock to Diablo IV and Diablo Immortal too, with each team crafting a different interpretation to suit its game while keeping a shared identity.
  • Design perspective: Developers say the Warlock plays differently from the Necromancer—less about maintaining an army and more about flashy, disposable tools—so each studio adjusted mechanics to match its title.
