Amazon’s live-action adaptation of God of War has filled the role of Atreus, naming Callum Vinson to portray Kratos’ son alongside Ryan Hurst’s Kratos. The series, which follows the story arc of the 2018 game, is currently in pre-production and has been ordered for two seasons with Ronald D. Moore serving as showrunner.
- Callum Vinson’s résumé includes TV appearances on Chucky, Poker Face, Long Bright River, and Dead Ringers, plus voice work as Piglet; he also has several upcoming projects including a role in Crystal Lake.
- Atreus is portrayed as a young, skilled archer raised in seclusion who is curious about the wider world and eager to earn his father’s respect after his mother’s death.
- The principal cast announced so far pairs Vinson with Ryan Hurst (Kratos) and includes Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Danny Woodburn as Brok, Jeff Gulka as Sindri, and others.
- Amazon has committed to two seasons and the show is shooting up preparations in Vancouver; Moore, known for Outlander and Battlestar Galactica, leads the creative team adapting the game’s Norse-era tale.
