Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has confirmed that recent global memory price rises have not yet affected the company's upcoming Switch 2 console, while warning the trend could create challenges if it persists.

The comments came in a Q&A released alongside Nintendo's February quarterly financial report. Furukawa noted that, to date, the increases in memory costs have not had an impact on Switch 2 production or plans, but cautioned that a continued rise in prices could apply pressure "through the next fiscal year".

Furukawa's remarks underline the sensitivity of console manufacturing to component cost fluctuations. Memory pricing is a notable input for modern gaming hardware, and sustained increases can affect procurement, production costs and margins.

Nintendo said it is monitoring market conditions and the supply chain as part of its regular financial and production planning. The company did not provide further detail on potential mitigation measures or the exact financial exposure related to memory pricing in the Q&A.
