Take-Two Interactive chief executive Strauss Zelnick has publicly refuted claims that Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch as a digital-only release. The denial was reported by Eurogamer after Zelnick addressed circulating rumours about the next entry in the franchise.

"That's not the plan," Zelnick said, according to Eurogamer.

The comment will reassure collectors and retailers following a wave of speculation that Rockstar Games might forgo physical copies at launch. Grand Theft Auto remains one of the industry’s biggest sellers, and previous entries in the series have been widely available in physical formats.

Take-Two and Rockstar have not disclosed full launch details for GTA 6, including platforms, release date or edition formats. The denial from the Take-Two CEO simply dispels the specific suggestion that the title would be sold exclusively via digital storefronts at release.

Reports and statements about GTA 6 continue to attract significant attention, with any official announcement likely to be scrutinised for information on availability, special editions and retailer listings.
