WWE 2K26 will launch in March 2026 with CM Punk as the primary cover superstar, marking Punk's first appearance on the cover of a WWE game since 2012. The announcement follows earlier reveals of special Attitude Era and King of Kings edition covers.

Developer Visual Concepts presented a virtual preview outlining a number of changes and additions. WWE 2K26 is the first instalment in the series this generation to skip PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it promises highly requested match types and weapons, reworked gameplay mechanics and the largest day-one superstar roster in the franchise's history.

Lucha Libre AAA and other teases

WWE's acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA in 2025 raised questions about AAA representation in the game. Visual Concepts replied, "Maybe. Stay tuned." The game's official website also includes a teaser image showing a desk with WWE easter eggs and a prominently placed photograph of an iguana, which may hint at future AAA inclusions.

Match types, gameplay and commentary

WWE 2K26 introduces four new match types: Inferno, I Quit, Three Stages of Hell and Dumpster. As with WWE 2K25, every match type can be contested under intergender rules. Visual Concepts also highlighted reworked gameplay mechanics, additional weapons and expanded match options. Commentary teams now include Wade Barrett.
