Highguard, the free‑to‑play multiplayer title from Wildlight Entertainment, has introduced a time‑limited experimental 5v5 mode following a marked decline in active players.
After a comparatively strong launch, concurrent player numbers on PC have dropped sharply. One frequent criticism has been the size of the maps: with the game offering only a 3v3 mode at launch, large arenas often felt empty.
To address those concerns Wildlight has deployed a weekend test that supports two teams of five. The experimental mode increases team sizes by four players compared with the standard raid configuration while leaving the original 3v3 mode available.
The change is being billed as an experiment and is currently limited to the weekend test window. Push Square reported the update and noted that the developer is attempting to tackle feedback about pacing and map utilisation as player counts continue to fluctuate.
