Nintendo has scheduled a dedicated Nintendo Direct for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Thursday 29 January, streamed via its YouTube channel at 6am PT / 9am ET (14:00 GMT). The presentation is slated to run for "roughly 20 minutes," according to the company's announcement.
The sequel, announced last March amid widespread speculation around the Switch 2, marks the first full follow-up to the 2014 3DS title in over a decade. Outside of a handful of brief trailers, details have been scarce, making the upcoming Direct the most significant source of information since the game's reveal.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream currently carries a Spring 2026 release window. The Direct is expected to provide a specific launch date and outline how the sequel differs from the original, including any enhancements for the forthcoming Switch 2. Nintendo has confirmed the title will be available on the current Switch as well as on the next-generation hardware.
Tomodachi Life is a life-simulation built around Miis, Nintendo's customisable avatars, and was one of the 3DS's best-selling titles with 6.72 million units sold as of March 2025. The Direct should clarify features, platforms and timing for the new entry.
