Firaxis Games, Inc. is an American video game developer based in Sparks, Maryland. Founded in May 1996 by Sid Meier, Jeff Briggs, and Brian Reynolds after leaving MicroProse, it was originally named Firaxis Software before adopting its current name in July 1997. The company was acquired by Take-Two Interactive in 2005 and operates under its 2K label.
